A Vehicle that Keeps on Giving: The 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Continuing the same job for over 40 years is rare. After a while, the work might become stale, or a better opportunity might arise. That's not the case for the 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI. This vehicle has kept to its initial mission for over four decades, and there are no signs of slowing down. After being redesigned in 2022, this eighth-generation vehicle is prepared to motivate every Horseshoe Bay, Texas driver with its performance, modern interior, and high-tech safety features.

New Additions to the 2024 Golf GTI

Since the 2022 redesign of the vehicle, not a whole lot has changed. If you're a Killeen, Texas driver who loves the manual transmission, Volkswagen announced the 2024 model will be the final Golf GTI with the six-speed manual transmission. To say goodbye to the iconic Golf GTI manual transmission, every trim that comes with that transmission will also receive the GTI 380 package, adding on a Graphite Gray paint, adaptive suspension, and sturdy, black-painted 19-inch wheels.

2024 Golf GTI Trim Levels

This year, the 2024 Volkswagen Golf GTI is available in six different trims, starting at an MSRP of $33,190 and going up to $42,050, depending on your upgrades.

  • S Automatic
  • 380 S Manual
  • SE Automatic
  • 380 SE Manual
  • Autobahn Automatic
  • 380 Autobahn Manual

More Powerful Engine

This year, the 2024 Golf GTI comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, outputting 243 total horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Compared to the 2023 model, that's an increase of 13 horsepower and 15 pound-feet of torque. Every trim level comes in front-wheel drive, and is either powered by the six-speed manual transmission or the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Increased Performance

Compared to the 2023 model, the 2024 Golf GTI exceeds all expectations. The S Automatic trim reaches 60 mph in 5.8 seconds, over 0.5 seconds quicker than last year.

Furthermore, the performance increases are no surprise. Volkswagen engineers designed this vehicle to have heightened reflexes and even higher levels of performance. The new suspension, electronically controlled limited-slip differential and brake-based torque vectoring have fine-tuned the 2024 Golf GTI to become an on-road stud. In most situations, this vehicle handles with ease. Austin, Texas drivers don't have to worry about stiff controls or a bumpy ride when they get behind the wheel.

Interior Touches That Please Everyone

Once you're inside the 2024 Golf GTI, you'll notice how modern the interior looks. At the same time, a wave of nostalgia will wash over you, as there are plenty of callbacks to the Golf GTI legacy.

Per usual, the front seats are covered in the iconic plaid design with red trim accents circling the outer edges, and the classic golf-ball shift knob is always a welcoming sight. The three-spoke steering wheel is another legacy callback bolstered by a modern 10.3-inch gauge cluster display.

It's not all about the driver though. When cruising through Georgetown, Texas, with your friends, the rear seats are more than just accommodating; they're downright spacious.

Technology and Safety

For the base S Automatic trim, the 2023 Golf GTI comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, and a 10.0-inch screen for every higher level trim. Every 2023 Golf GTI comes with four USB-C ports, two in the front and two in the back. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard with every trim level.

Driver-assistance technology like automated emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control come standard with the vehicle.
